Internet.org by Facebook
The more we connect, the better it gets. Internet.org is a Facebook-led initiative bringing together technology leaders, nonprofits and local communities to connect the two thirds of the world that doesn’t have internet access. For this project, I worked on the design of the website "mobile first". Here's my design exploration from concept to the final product.
My first idea was to create a map to show the difference between the two third of the world connected and the one third disconnected by using lights and lines connections. By exploring the map world, you discover points highlighted but not connected with stories about people who don't have access to the internet.
A second idea was to invite the user to realize simple interactions as he was reading the content, by sliding or scrolling elements, to reveal the messages of the campaign till the discovery of the different stories.
Another concept was to divide the mobile screen in 3 parts to simbolize the one third of the world not connected. Once you touch the one third side, you dive into the story of someone not connected to the internet.
In this concept, the idea was to allow the user to virtually connect the one third of the world not on the internet with the rest of the world by switching a button to activate the connections. Once activated, you discover the stories.
Once we had the stories assets, we decided to start working on a design using more images than graphics and abstract elements.
